In the production of bogas certificates would be a matter of some importance.
The Chinese would understand it is to better pass.
No. 323.
As to the point referred to by W. Braustin we have asked for a report 137.62/82 which has been answered.
Pending a decision on the issue of new rules under that despatch has been our practice to continue approving the grant of pensions to Chinese without the addition of years climate allowance and also to allow such pensions to be commuted.
I have added a paragraph to the draft, asking when we shall get an answer to that despatch and another paragraph regarding Police gratuities which should not have been included in their despatch (as it is very inconvenient to SWI bars them twice).
Government House, Hongkong 24th September 1887.
In accordance with the instructions contained in Lord Kimberley's Despatch No. 15 of the 21st June 1880, I have the honour to transmit the Return of Gratuities for the Quarter ending 30th June, 1887.
The Right Honourable Sir H. J. Holland, Bart., M.P., &c., &c.
